Pat Gallinger

Executive Director


Pat Gallinger is the Executive Director of Springwood Campus.  Ms. Gallinger was appointed Executive Director in March of 2000.
From 1989 to 2000, Ms. Gallinger worked at Springwood as the assistant to her mentor, former Administrator, Jane Hawthorne.  She managed the administrative and financial activities as well as directed the Human Resources and Payroll Departments.  In 1991 she developed and directed Springwood's independent resident care program, Companion Plus.
As Executive Director, Pat is responsible for all operations on the campus, including assisted living.  Pat has 18 years experience in health care and has a long-standing commitment to the advocacy for the elderly.

Pat is married and has two daughters and eight grandchildren.




Fred Batchelor

Culinary Director / Executive Chef


Fred brings an extensive background of over 26 years in Senior Dining Services, Menu Development, and Dining Room Services Systems to our team.  He is the former President of the American Federation, Colorado Chapter and a recipient of their prestigious "Chef of the Year" Award. Fred was also President of the Colorado Chefs Association. He was a member of the World Cooks Tour for Hunger in 1993, in which 144 Chefs raised over $200,000.00
Fred was inducted into the AFC Chef de Cuisine Hall of Fame in January of 2005.  Fred has been our Culinary Director on the Springwood Campus for 25 years.

Fred's previous culinary experience includes stints as the Executive Chef of the Historic Denver Tea Room Restaurant, Chef at the Normandy French Restaurant, Denver and Lord Chumleys Restaurant in Buffalo, New York.

Fred enjoys playing golf and traveling in his spare time.




Susan Walker

Campus Marketing Director


 Susan has a BS in Marketing from the University of Colorado. She began her career in senior living as the Sales Director for an assisted living community in 2007.  Susan began working in the retirment living industry after searching for assisted living care for her father. That experience brought her special insight into what families are going through when making the decision to move to a retirement community.

Susan has a son at CSU and a daughter at UWyo. They enjoy the Colorado mountains for skiing, hiking, camping, fly fishing  and atv'ing. On nice days you might  see Susan and her husband out riding their Harleys.


Karen Collins

Campus Social Director

Karen Collins brings more than 20 years experience to Springwood as the Social Director. 
Karen has a BA in Education from Minot State University in Minot, North Dakota.  She worked for seven years in Long term care until entering the retirement industry.

Karen has been at the Springwood Campus since 2000.  She has a staff of three coordinators, three weekend coordinators, an assistant and three drivers.  She is a member of the Colorado Activity Professional Association for which she has held the positions of Denver Metro Chapter President and Treasurer, and has been on the State Executive Board and held the positions of Secretary and Education Chair.

 

Mary Besson


Nightingale Suites Director

Mary Besson brings more than 16 years of assisted living experience to Springwood as Nightingale Suites Director.  She holds both bachelors and masters degrees in Health Services Administration from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. 

She brings a fresh approach to our team with her relocation to Colorado after years of working with seniors in South Dakota.

Mary enjoys spending time with family, friends, and enjoying the many opportunities for outdoor activity in Colorado.
