Springwood Retirement

"Our original vision was a continuum of care retirement community where residents could either live independently or with as much support as they needed,"  says Steve Elken, one of the original developers.  He takes pride in his continuous management and seeing this vision accomplished by "a valued staff who have given so many, many years of excellent service to our community."  There are 125 employees who staff the 15 acre campus.  Many have been continuously employed for more than ten years and more than a third have been here for at least five years.  Executive Director, Pat Gallinger, who has been at Springwood for over 20 years says, "I am starting to see the next generation move in. It's very reassuring for the new residents to know there is staff that remember when their parents lived here."

Testimonials:

"Persistent kindness—that’s the only way to sum up the gift of residing at Springwood"..-Sally & Sue

"My mother loved Springwood.  She loved loved the food, the vitality of the residents and   the niceness of the staff.  She has now moved to Nightingale Suites, the assisted living portion of Springwood, and that has been an equally great place for her.  It made the decision so much easier for the four children and my Mom to move to assisted living when it was already an extension of such a well-loved living arrangement.” - Susan B. Goddard

"We are enjoying life here very much", was the response from Darrel and Mary Nelson. "We have had the opportunity to become acquainted with many dear friends through the many activities offered. The staff is friendly, caring and professional."

Historian and writer Lois Lindstrom Kennedy is delighted with her freedom from the worries of home ownership. She finally had the time to finish writing  her latest book Ralston's Gold. Like many, she remembers that she thought making the move from her home would be difficult, but once she did it, she wondered why she waited so long!

Rose and Byron have this to say, "Everyone is so nice and helpful, the food is wonderful, our apartment is beautiful. What else can we say?"

Nancy says, "Thank you to all of the staff and residents for making our dad feel like he was part of a big family. He really enjoyed his time at Springwood.

"Springwood is surely an exceptional place for senior citizens to live" -Wallis, daughter of Marie
